Irving Berlin – White Christmas

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

irvinberlinswhitechristmasBy the end of September, trees, lights, and Christmas angels will be surrounding us, so why not embrace the spirit of the season by seeing one of the most beloved classics of Broadway, White Christmas?  Returning to Broadway for its second consecutive season, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas will ring in the season on November 13, 2009 at the Marquis Theatre in New York City.

Many of us are familiar with the comedic story of two friends in the entertainment business who put on a show at an inn in Vermont, owned by a World War II veteran, General Waverly.  The inn has fallen on rough times, so the friends decide to put this show on to bring in business.  In the process, not only do they fall in love with two singing “Sisters”, but they fill our hearts with love as well.

The stage production of White Christmas, directed by Tony-Award winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago, Footloose, A Grand Night For Singing), is filled with Irving Berlin classics, such as “Blue Skies”, “Count Your Blessings”, and the timeless “White Christmas”. Its tale of love and hope is being brought to Broadway this holiday season, and it is also going on tour from November, 2009 through January, 2010. Along with regular performances in New York City, White Christmas will be adding other performances to satisfy the demand of the holidays, totaling 61 performances in all. There is surely a show time available for all.
