With it now official the New York Yankee’s have once again clinched a playoff spot a feat they have accomplished 14 times out of the last 15 seasons, with last season being the only exception. They Bronx Bombers are back and ready to avenge their previous season’s disappointing finish as they were forced to close the historic Yankee Stadium doors before the postseason began. The Yankees, who last won the World Series in 2000 look to swing and pitch their way back into the World Series and in pursuit of championship title number 27. The Yankees are in the playoffs for the 49th time in the franchise’s 107-year history but the first time while playing in the new Yankee’s Stadium.

There is still work to do in order to wrap up the AL East title, but no matter what happens over the final days of the regular season, playoff baseball will be returning to the Bronx this October after a one-year hiatus. With the American League winning the All-Star game the Yankee’s and their best record in the league are guaranteed home field advantage throughout the American League division and championship series. Sports:  Baseball is back as the regular season opens on April 5th featuring the Braves and Phillies.  In New York both the Yankees and Mets host inaugural games in there new ballparks.  The NCAA Tournament wraps early in the month at the best of Division I basketball is decided.  Basketball and Hockey both begin their 2nd Season as playoffs begin for both sports and Golf returns with it’s 1st Major “The Masters” in traditional Augusta, Georgia. Boxing also features two great fights as Winky Wright faces Paul Williams in Vegas while Jermain Taylor squares off against Karl Froch.  The WWE also has Wrestlemania 25 at Reliant Stadium on April 5th in Houston.
